Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

Croton watches - President day date 18kA lot of people haven’t heard of Croton watches, and that’s surprising, as the American-based company has been in business since 1878.  During that time, they have produced quality wristwatches that offer good quality, complications in their movements, incredibly diverse styling, and a warranty that’s as good as any in the industry.

If you haven’t heard of them, you definitely need to take a look, as they offer more than 200 different models for both men and women, and it’s pretty unlikely that you can’t find something in the Croton watches product line that appeals to your taste.

An added benefit is pricing – while they do offer a number of models that are priced in the thousands of dollars, their price line starts at a reasonable $250 or so, making them quite affordable.  If you’re new to buying luxury timepieces, you should definitely give this brand a look.

Croton Watches Build Quality

You’ll find that the Croton watches build quality is good; they offer cases of stainless steel and a few models with gold.  They use mineral crystal on their less expensive models and sapphire crystal on their high-end models, as well as a variety of movements sourced from either Switzerland or Japan.

Water resistance varies by model, of course, but we’ve seen models in their product line with water resistance of up to 200 meters.  Bands are leather, stainless steel, and gold. These are good watches that should last for a long time with proper care, especially since they come with a lifetime limited warranty.

Movements

As the price range is rather diverse, so is their range of movements used in their timepieces.  Less expensive models use Japanese-made quartz electronic movements, while their mid-range models use Swiss-made quartz workings.

Their higher priced models use Swiss-made automatic movements, and a few Croton watches offer complications, for those who like mechanical intricacy.  As most of their product line uses highly reliable quartz electronic movements, you’ll find that there’s not a lot of maintenance involved in owning one of these watches, which is always a benefit.

Innovation

As a longtime maker of quality timepieces, you’ll find a few interesting innovative features in the product line.  They offer models with chronograph features, a few that have a tourbillon, and models with the date and the day of the week.  If you like models with elaborate complications, this company is worth checking out.

Styling and Features

Croton watches - Imperial TourbillonYou’ll find that styling is incredibly diverse; they offer more than 200 models with models in an amazing variety of styles.  They’ve got traditional looking timepieces, vintage looking timepieces, and a variety of models with styling that is best described as “out there” or avant garde.

If you like truly eye-catching styles or bursts of color, and you want to wear something that no one you have ever met has seen, then this brand is worth investigating.  They do produce a few limited edition models, mostly on their higher end, so keep an eye out for those.

All of their displays are analog, and they offer a few models that feature gold cases with diamonds, for those who like bling or who just need something to go with formal wear.

Care and Maintenance

Care and maintenance is minimal for most models; the bulk of their product line uses quartz movements, which are accurate, highly reliable, and don’t require much in the way of maintenance, aside from having the battery replaced every few years.

If you have one of their mechanical models, you’ll want to have it examined by an authorized dealer every five years or so to ensure that the water-resistant seals are intact and to make sure that the watch is working properly.

Aside from these considerations, you should store your watch in a cool, dry place and you should keep them away from extremes of temperature and strong magnetic fields.  If you have a model with an automatic movement, you should store it in a watch winder to keep it working properly and keeping accurate time.

Croton Watches Warranty

Croton watches - men's Daredevil VampireYou’ll find that one of the most appealing aspects of buying Croton watches is the warranty; it’s one of the best in the industry.  Most companies, including some very expensive ones, only provide a two year warranty against defects in workmanship or materials.

We find that odd when the price of the watch might be $250,000, but that’s how the industry works.  That’s why this company is different and appealing.  The warranty here is exceptional; they offer to warrant the watch for life against defects in materials and craftsmanship.

That’s as good as it gets, and this is one of only a few companies in the industry that offers such a warranty.  That means that you can reasonably expect your timepiece to run pretty much forever with proper care.

Prices

As their product line is quite diverse, you’ll find the range of prices to be equally diverse.  Pricing starts at about $250 or so, and extends into the mid-four figure range.  Of course, for $6000 or so, you’ll get gold and diamonds, and a mechanical movement and sapphire crystal, along with a lifetime warranty, so it’s money well spent.

They have many models priced at under $1000, making them generally a good value as luxury watch prices go.  There is a bit of collector interest in the brand, as you might expect for a company that’s more than 100 years old.  Vintage models are of particular interest as are models that were limited in production and are no longer available.

We’re not suggesting that you should buy as an investment, but if you find that the timepiece you buy today is worth more tomorrow, just consider it a benefit.

Where to Buy

Croton watches - women's Pumpkin CrownYou can find the brand for sale at a number of brick and mortar retailers, including high end department stores and many jewelry stores.  You can also find them for sale online at a number of retailers, and that’s where you’re going to find your best bargains as well as the opportunity to buy discounted watches.

Keep in mind that this company’s product line is quite large and diverse; with more than two hundred different models, it’s pretty unlikely that any single retailer is going to have everything in stock.  You’ll likely find a good representation anywhere you look, but if you’re shopping for something in particular, you may have to shop around a bit.

Still, as a rule, it’s not too hard to find the brand for sale.

Croton Watches Summary

When it comes to styling, we like diversity.  There are lots of companies that make wristwatches that look like every watch did in 1955, and there’s nothing wrong with that.  There’s a place for a traditional, stainless steel model with a white face and a modest look.

And if you like that, Croton watches can certainly fit the bill.  But if you like gemstones, gold, crazy colors, wild face designs and truly edgy, in-your-face styling, then you owe it to yourself to give Croton watches a look.  Their models are affordable, and their warranty is as good as it gets.  These are nice timepieces, and well worth considering.
