Welder Watches Review – Industrial Looks and Great Quality

Welder Watches – Amazing Styling and Quality

If you’ve never heard of Welder watches, don’t be shocked as you wouldn’t be alone. The brand isn’t a standalone name; it’s actually a spinoff of the popular, but fairly new, U-Boat watches brand. Hard as it may be to believe, Welder watches actually have more extreme styling than their parent brand, though they also have somewhat more reasonable pricing. The wristwatches are still built with good quality and offer rugged, oversized looks with a modern, industrial flair. Chances are good that you’ll be the only one wearing one in your social circle, and if you do, you will attract attention, because these are not subtle timepieces. They’re big, bold, colorful, and eye-catching.

Welder Watches Build Quality

Welder watches men's red chronoThe build quality of Welder watches is good, much like their parent products. Watches are built in Italy using mainly Japanese movements. Cases are of stainless steel and carbon fiber, and they use mineral crystal, rather than sapphire, but that’s to be expected from a more moderately priced product line. Water resistance is good at up to 200 meters for some models. All in all, these are well-made, rugged watches that will last for years with proper care.

Welder Watches Movements

Unlike the U-Boat parent, Welder watches use Japanese-made quartz electronic movements, sourced from Miyota, which is a division of Citizen. These movements are highly accurate and reliable. An added benefit is they require relatively little maintenance, aside from occasional replacement of the battery.

Innovation

The innovation to be found in Welder watches is largely in the designs; most of the real innovation takes place at the parent company. Here you’ll find some interesting styling, which is where this company’s innovation takes place. These are large watches with lots of buttons, dials, and indicators and they don’t resemble anything you’ve ever seen before.

Welder Watches Styling and Features

welder watches mens k24 automatic blackStyling is the strong suit of Welder watches; they are truly out there when it comes to design. If you like small styles, women’s models, or have a small wrist, this is not the brand for you. These timepieces are huge, with sizes in the 50mm range to be typical. Welder watches use bold, industrial-inspired designs, lots of color, odd shapes, multiple dials, multiple faces, and just generally avant garde styling. Displays are all analog, and many models have chronograph features as well as date complications. Bracelets are available in rubber, stainless steel and leather, and a few models have mounted the crown in places other than the standard 3 o’clock position.

Welder Watches Care and Maintenance

Unlike their U-Boat cousins, you’ll find that Welder watches require relatively little maintenance.  As they are all powered by highly reliable quartz electronic movements, you won’t have to worry about maintenance, aside from replacement of the battery every few years.  If you spend a lot of time in the water, you may wish to have your watch examined by a jeweler every two years or so to ensure that the water resistant seals are intact.  If you spend time in salt water, you should rinse your watch with tap water afterwards.  You should store it in a cool, dry place and keep it away from extremes of temperature and from strong magnetic fields, which can harm the movement.  Aside from that, it should work well for years to come.

Welder Watches Warranty

The Welder watches warranty is the industry-standard two years from the date of purchase.  This will protect you from defects in materials and workmanship, which should be rare.  It’s possible that you may have the opportunity to purchase an extended warranty from the retailer at the point of sale; you should inquire about this if it interests you.

Welder Watch Prices

Welder watches mens k24 chronograph goldCompared to many luxury brands, the prices for Welder watches are fairly reasonable.  List prices range from roughly $1000 to $2000, though we’ve seen them discounted at a number of online retailers.  This is a rather narrow price range; most companies have a range that is considerably larger.  The most expensive watch from Rolex, for instance, costs one hundred times as much as their least expensive model.  We’re not yet seeing a lot of collector interest in Welder watches, though this is probably because the brand isn’t all that old, having been established early in this century.  We expect that in time, these watches will become collectible and sell for a premium, as their unique styling is pretty appealing and collectors tend to flock to the unusual.

Welder Watches for Sale

You can find Welder watches for sale at a number of locations, including high end department stores and fine jewelry stores.  You’ll certainly find them at any retailer that carries the U-Boat brand.  In addition, you can also buy discount Welder watches at a number of online retailers.  This is certainly worth considering, as we have seen substantial price reductions online, with some retailers selling certain models at prices of up to 70% off of the suggested retail price.  The company has a rather diverse product line, with many different collections, so it’s unlikely that any single retailers is going to stock everything the company makes.  If there’s something in particular that you’re looking for then you may have to shop around a bit.

Welder Watches Summary

We’ll state the obvious first – Welder watches are not for everyone.  They are not elegant looking and they’re not going to look good with an evening gown or a tuxedo.  They’re huge, making them a poor choice for those who are diminutive.  That said, they have bold looks that are truly unique and don’t resemble anyone else’s products.  They use lots of color, odd placement of the crown, multiple dials, mutliple faces and generally offer something special for those who like wristwatches that don’t look like what everyone else is wearing.  Pricing is reasonable, as luxury watches go, the build quality is good, and as these are quartz timepieces, you won’t have to worry too much about maintenance issues.  If you like styling that is truly out there, then Welder watches might be a good choice for you.
