Badgley Mischka Watches Review
That’s not to dismiss them, of course. These watches serve a purpose – they’re fashion accessories, and they’re designed with that in mind and are likely purchased for that express reason.
If you’re in the market for a fashion watch, this brand could likely be a good choice. They’re attractive timepieces, they’re reasonably well made, and they’re surprisingly affordable, given that the clothing from Badgley Mischka, while nice, isn’t particularly inexpensive.
These watches can be a good choice if you’re looking for an evening on the town and need that perfect accessory to go with your favorite gown.
Read on for the full Badgley Mischka watches review.
Badgley Mischka, based in California, was founded in the late 198os and specializes in women’s shoes, clothing and accessories. They have an extensive line of bridal wear, as well.
Their watches are undoubtedly sourced from another manufacturer, but they’re reasonably well made. Most of their watches feature brass cases, which is a material that we seldom see. Most makers seem to favor stainless steel, but brass is a solid, durable metal that works well for watch cases.
The watch face is protected by mineral crystal. Water resistance for most models is relatively modest, with a rating of 30 meters. That can be misleading; the company makes it clear that their watches can get wet, such as in a rainstorm, but they’re not suitable for swimming or diving.
The movements used are quartz electronic movements sourced from Japan, likely from Miyota, a division of Citizen. Quartz movements are highly reliable and accurate and do not require much in the way of maintenance.
That’s convenient, since buyers of fashion watches are usually not overly interested in maintaining their timepieces. They want to put them on and go about their business. For that, the movements used are ideal.
You won’t find any technical innovation in this brand, but then again, that’s not an objective. Badgley Mischka watches are offered as fashion accessories by a fashion company, not as cutting-edge horological specimens. They’ll look great, but if you’re interested in perpetual calendars or moon phases, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
If you like Swarovski crystals, you’ll love these watches. Most of their models feature copious amounts of Swarovski cyrstals, which give their watches a lot of shine and sparkle.
Their product line includes a number of different styles, from smaller bracelet-style timepieces (25mm) to larger (40mm or so) models that have a more traditional look.
Colors in the lineup favor gold, silver and white; you won’t see any reds, blues or greens in these watches. On the other hand, these basic colors make for watches that can fit in well with just about anything you’re wearing, so you won’t have to buy watches to match a specific outfit.
You won’t find precious gems or metals here; they’re content to offer Swarovski crystals as their venture into bling.
All of the models in their product line have analog displays, rather than digital ones, and all are time-only models with no complications. We did see two models that had a small inset dial to display the seconds, but other than that, they’re all time-only.
The care and maintenance of Badgley Mischka watches is simple and straightforward. As these watches all feature highly reliable Japanese quartz electronic movements, you won’t have to do anything in the way of maintenance aside from replacing the battery every few years.
As with all timepieces, you should store Badgley Mischka watches away from extremes of temperature and strong magnetic fields, as these can damage the movement. You should also strive to keep them from being immersed in water, as their water resistance is modest.
With proper care, you should get a number of years worth of use from watch.
When it comes to warranty, this brand is exceptional. Probably 90% of the watches on the market, including upscale brands such as Rolex, offer a two year warranty against defects in materials and craftsmanship. While that is usually adequate, Badgley Mischka watches take it quite a bit further than that.
When you purchase a watch, you’ll receive a warranty against defects for a full five years. They do ask that you pay a modest shipping fee, but aside from that, you’ll have half a decade of warranty protection, which puts this brand in the upper tier of watch companies when it comes to warranty.
As fashion watches go, the prices are quite reasonable. The handful of models seen on the company’s Website are priced between $150-$195, which is quite reasonable in an industry where fashion watches can sell for thousands of dollars.
We’ve seen some models elsewhere offered for sale at slightly higher prices; these were models not seen on the company’s Website. Even those prices topped out a under $300, making them a relative bargain.
You can buy them at the company Website, though their selection was surprisingly small. Other online retailers seem to offer a larger selection. Amazon, for example, offers five or six times as many models for sale, and has a prices ranging from about $60 to $300.
You will likely also find them for sale in some high end department stores, but if you’re looking to buy at a discount watches, you’ll definitely want to shop online.
If you like watches as a fashion accessory, rather than something to collect, you’ll love this brand. They’re attractive, they come in a variety of styles, and they’re quite affordable.
They also have highly reliable movements that won’t require a lot of maintenance. All in all, they’re a pretty good package, and the combination of looks and price will likely make Badgley Mischka watches irresistible to a lot of buyers.
