Police Watches Review
As people have different reasons for buying wristwatches, companies have different reasons for making them.
Some want to practice the art of watchmaking as art, pushing the limits of what mechanical devices can do. Others offer simple timepieces, and nothing more.
The third group, and perhaps the fastest-growing one, is the group of manufacturers offering wristwatches as a fashion accessory.
That’s where Police watches come in. Police is an Italian fashion brand that got their start in 1983 making sunglasses. Their glasses became popular, so they’ve since expanded their product line into a variety of fashion accessories, and starting in 2003, they added wristwatches to the lineup.
Over the years, the company has employed such well-known celebrities as George Clooney, Bruce Willis, and David Beckham to promote their brand.
As with most fashion watches, Police watches are design-first, so you’re looking at interesting timepieces that will look good, but which likely won’t offer any new innovations “under the hood.”
Still, Police watches are interesting to see, and they’re reasonably well built and they’re offered at a good price.

Where to Buy
Police Watches Build Quality
Police watches are manufactured and distributed by the Gevril Group, a large American manufacturer and distributor of wristwatches. Gevril makes watches for a number of fashion brands, and they’re of reasonably good quality.
Police watches feature stainless steel cases, and the watch faces are protected by mineral crystal, which is adequate, but not nearly as scratch-resistant as the much more expensive sapphire crystal.
Water resistance is rated at 50 meters, which means that it’s OK to get your watch wet, but you won’t want to go swimming or diving with it.
All of the models we have seen have been offered with quartz electronic movements, though we have not been able to determine from where these movements are sourced.
Quartz movements are quite accurate and reliable, and have the added benefit of not requiring much in the way of maintenance.

As this is a fashion brand, you’re not going to find any true technical innovation in Police watches, especially since these are quartz-powered timepieces.
On the other hand, you will find some interesting styling, and as a fashion brand, that’s where the company is putting its focus.
Styling ranges from austere and traditional to the truly avant garde, with huge cases (up to 50mm) and cases with non-round shapes. Some are rectangular and others sort of defy description.
You’ll find the common silver/gold/black/white colors, but there are also models that feature orange or blue, so if you like colorful timepieces, you’ll find something here that you like.
Complications are limited to power reserve, date, day/date, chronograph, and dual time zone in their “Time Two” models.
While the company does offer a few time-only designs that are fairly simple, most of the models are big and bold, with lots of buttons and dials and case sizes that are so large that they cannot be ignored.
The company currently offers about 50 different models, many of which have multiple variations.
The company does not currently offer any models specifically made for women, and most of the case sizes are going to be larger than what most women would likely care to wear.
All cases are stainless steel; you won’t find any gold or precious metals in the product line. On the other hand, this brand is quite affordably priced, which reflects the lack of precious metals or mechanical movements.
Maintenance will be pretty simple, as all of these watches are powered by electronic quartz movements. You’ll need to replace the battery every three years or so, and as with all watches, you’ll want to store them in a cool, dry place, and away from extremes of temperature or strong magnetic fields.
With proper care, you should get a number of years of use from your purchase.
Police Watches Warranty
The warranty offered with Police watches is the industry standard of two years. This will protect you against defects in materials and craftsmanship.
It’s possible that some retailers may offer the possibility of purchasing an extended warranty at the time of purchase. You may wish to consider this, though most companies find a two year warranty to be adequate.
When you’re buying designer watches of any kind, pricing will always be a consideration. Fortunately, this brand is quite affordable, especially compared with other fashion brands.
We’ve seen models priced as low as about $75 and on the upper end, we’ve seen them priced up to about $500.
This is fairly reasonable pricing as fashion timepieces go; you can spend tens of thousands of dollars on fashion timepieces, making this brand a relative bargain.
Oddly enough, the company does not sell directly via the official Police watches Website, though we often see that with mid-priced fashion brands.
Instead, you’ll have to buy through a network of authorized resellers. Many watchmakers do this to restrict sales and to avoid “diluting” the brand name.
You’ll certainly find Police watches for sale at any retailer that also sells the company’s other fashion products, such as their sunglasses, wallets or backpacks.
You can also purchase them online from a number of retailers and that may represent your best opportunity to buy at a discount, as online retailers tend to have lower prices due to lower overhead costs.
Police Watches Summary
If you like big, and we mean, huge, cases on your watches, you’ll like this brand a lot. The styling is not at all subtle, and with big dials, lots of buttons and big cases, you’ll draw attention everywhere you go.
You’ll also find a terrific range of styles and colors, along with pricing that’s attractive enough that you may be tempted to buy more than one watch.
If you like truly “out there” styling and you don’t mind wearing a 50mm watch, then you definitely will want to take a look at Police watches.
They’re not for the timid.
